Receiving support from those who advocate for a zero waste future is a large part of Takeaway Throwaways. This is a ‘people’s campaign’ first and foremost, but within a democratic system we are all connected.

Plastic Free Wanaka is on a mission to reduce single use plastics in the Wanaka community and across New Zealand. Their vision is that, collectively, the community works together to eliminate the instinct to grab a drink, meal, coffee or product in something designed to be immediately thrown away after consuming. Plastic Free Wanaka runs events and education to communicate the harm done by single use plastics and to make it easy and affordable to choose reusable options. They also advocate for national action and collaboration to reduce single use plastics used in New Zealand

SUCfree (Single Use Cup-free) Wanaka is a campaign by the community, for the community, to make the beautiful place of Wanaka free of the scourge of single-use cups by 2022.

Through science, research and education, Algalita is committed to addressing the issue of plastic pollution within both divisions of the Pacific. The Southern chapter brings quality, culturally specific education on plastic pollution to schools and communities in New Zealand, as well as policy support, research and community action.

Grey Lynn 2020 Waste Away are a group of committed volunteers that take action to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill from the Grey Lynn community. Among many activities, they have a vibrant presence at the Grey Lynn Farmers Market.
